Healthcorp, training division of Device Technologies is proud to offer either full or half day Laser Safety Training courses throughout Australia. The course content follows the recommendations of ASNZS4173:2004.



Who should do the course?

Perioperative nurses, health professionals in skin cancer clinics, beauticians, plastic surgery health professionals, Laser Technicians, Ophthalmologists, skin specialist and dermatologists.

Facilitator

Professor Lee Collins (Medical Physicist at Westmead Hospital)

1. Laser Safety Operator Training (half day)

Professor Collins will present a comprehensive programme
that covers ALL surgical and cosmetic lasers and includes:

  • Physics and the operation of lasers
  • Interaction of laser radiation with tissue
  • Hazards of surgical lasers
  • Laser safety
  • The role of the laser operator/nurse

 

2. Laser Safety Officer Training (full day)

Professor Collins will present a comprehensive programme
that covers ALL surgical and cosmetic lasers and includes:

  • Physics and the operation of lasers
  • Interaction of laser radiation with tissue
  • Hazards of surgical lasers
  • Laser safety
  • The role of the laser operator/nurse

Extra training for Laser Safety Officers includes:

  • Role and responsibilities of the LSO
  • Administrative controls, audits and checking credentials
  • Laser clarification and hazard area assessment
  • Australian Standards requirements
  • Relevant ACORN standards
  • Accident response

 

Qualification awarded upon successfully completing the course

You will be presented with a certificate on successful completion of the course enabling you to apply for a Laser License. Device Technologies also provides training on the care, maintenance and servicing of laser fibres. This activity is endorsed by APEC number 014011002 as authorised by Royal College of Nursing, Australia (RCNA) according to approved criteria. Attendance attracts 3 RCNA CNE points for the half day course and 7 RCNA CNE points for the full day course as part of RCNA's Life Long Learning Program (3LP).
